SUPER JUNIOR KANGIN TO TURN INDIE MUSICIAN IN NEW MOVIE

Kangin, member of top K-pop group Super Junior, will turn an indie musician in upcoming romantic movie.

Kangin has been cast as the male leading role of romance movie, whose title is translated into “Cat Funeral,” set to crank in this month and open next year, his agency SM Entertainment said on Wednesday.

“The male lead character Dong-hoon needs delicate emotional portray as well as guitar and singing skills. We cast Kangin after convinced with innocent yet sorrowful look in his eyes,” an official with the film’s producing crew said.

Based on a popular web cartoon of the same name, “Cat Funeral” will focus on a two days and one night journey of a broken-up couple who reunite to hold a funeral for a cat they had raised together a year ago.

The upcoming romance movie is Kangin’s first big screen role in five years after 2008 romance film “Hello Schoolgirl,” also based on a popular web cartoon.

Kangin already tweeted a photo from the set writing: "I'm ready. Staffs who are working hard in early morning~~~ They say "Starting is half (the work)". Fighting~~~"

Personally this is what I thought he should have been doing all along. I don't think he has the confidence and fearlessness needed for variety anymore and he is a pretty decent actor to begin with. This production seems low-key enough to be a good place to ease back in. My heart broke a little at the PDs words though. I hope he can channel his sadness into a moving performance.
