#FANDOMFREAKOUT: A FOLLOW UP. NO HAPPY ENDINGS.
10:28 pm - 07/06/2013
As you may remember from this previous Omona report, a particular group of Super Junior fans (@united_elf) launched a petition campaigning again Henry and Zhou Mi's involvement in Super Junior, calling for SM Entertainment to 'clarify and define' the boundaries between the Super Junior M members and the rest of Super Junior.
This made a lot of other fans angry. United_ELF ironically split the fandom in half and essentially launched an ELF civil war.
This went on all week with multiple counter-arguments and counter-petitions cropping up,
SJ Gallery on DCInside launched this counter argument.
A petition on twitter supporting Henry and Zhou Mi gained over 6,900 signatures.
There was some other counter-arguments like this one and this one.
And someone drew a diagram.
There was also a lot of arguing/'heated discussion' over various social media channels. united_elf responded to criticism with a 'clarification' and a FAQ in which they basically said the exact same thing but in comic sans.
Siding with united_elf was mostly Chinese, Korean and a minority of ELF from certain areas of South East Asia, while a majority of Japanese ELF thought the petition against Henry and Zhou Mi was stupid, a majority of South East Asian fans and a lot of western fans were on the support/defend Zhou Mi and Henry campaign.
People were suspicious that members of Super Junior caught wind. Zhou Mi had been online when the petition that started it all hit weibo. Some fans were waiting for Heechul to hit Sundong Cafe to see if he would approach the issue, especially with his habit of calling Henry and Zhou Mi Super junior members and his recent criticism of SM Entertainment. Many, though, hoped they would completely overlook the petition and just ignore it.
They didn't ignore it.
At the end of Super Show in Singapore, Super Junior's temporary leader Eunhyuk returned to the stage alone to make a statement.
"Firstly, Zhou Mi and Henry are not official Super Junior members, but Zhou Mi and Henry are official members of Super Junior M.
And we... Henry and Zhou Mi as Super Junior M members, are important, and we`ve spent a long time together with them. We have a close friendship with them, and support them like they are family members.
There won`t be any change with their positions nor will they promote with Super Junior. They won`t participate in Super Junior`s albums, nor take photos with us for Super Show posters. They will not have official promotions with Super Junior. I hope you all won`t misunderstand.
We just... those two... we truely support them; I hope there aren`t any more misunderstandings.
I think this talk started at last Super Show, when they stood with us for Super Junior stages. That did not have a different meaning. Doing Super Shows with them, and watching them wait for hours in the waiting room after performing only 3-4 songs made us sad. And knowing that they want to stand with us on stage instead of feeling lonely, we thought it`d be nice to bring them up for not all Super Junior stages but ones we interact with fans. So we brought them up. We hope you all wil have same feelings as us, and look at them with warm hearts, and cheer for them.
They will not become official Super Junior members. I hope you support them as Super Junior M members. Singapore ELF, sorry to talk about this here. I hope you will all leave safely. Thank you."

I am so disappointed with this speech. Anyone following me on twitter or tumblr knows how gutted I am. I feel sorry for Eunhyuk though because he was put in a horrible situation and I doubt those words were purely his own, he was most likely directed to say that.
I know there was little he could have really said, and the content really couldn't be changed, and this was more about getting fans to calm down and stop mud-slinging than it was really outlining what Zhou Mi and Henry are to Super Junior. But really, the wording in areas and the ultimatums does not give me a good feeling. There is way too much here that Onlys can cling on to and use against Henry and Zhou Mi. It feels a bit too much like mollifying them and leaving HenMi fans out in the cold and, frankly, I'm incredibly unhappy.
Zhou Mi walked through Incheon Airport after this concert without looking up from the floor even once.
