To be honest I was very sad and cried when Sungmin oppa confirmed the news with a very clear, it the his web blog and in SM. Ent web. I cherish and love you already own like my soul mate. Although he is not my bias, but still it feels heavy heart to remove it belongs to someone else .. I'm officially jealous and I feel heartbroken .. I think, other ELF like it too .. let alone another party who are fans of Sungmin oppa own. I do not know how it feels to be them .. they are very disappointed .. but as ELF is good, we should support whatever they do, they think are good for themselves .. I will also wake up, they have their own world (unlike we are always stalking them everywhere hahahahaha) .. Hope this is a good news and good thing :)

SUPER JUNIOR TIMELINE 2000-2011

2000 : Leeteuk dan Eunhyuk anggota pertama SM Entertainment yang ditemukan melalui STARLIGHT CASTING SYSTEM di Seoul. Eunhyuk terpilih berkat kemampuan nge-rap dan menari yang dimilikinya.
2001 : perusahaan pertama mereka di luar negeri mengadakan casting audisi dan menemukan Han Geng di Beijing. Han Geng mengikuti H.O.T CHINA AUDITION CASTING yang diadakan di China. Dia berhasil terpilih di antara tiga ribu pelamar. Setelah Han Geng, Yesung direkrut saat berlangsungnya “SEOUL’S CASTING SYSTEM” bersamaan dengan anggota Super Junior yang lain yaitu Sungmin dan Donghae. Sungmin dan Donghae terpilih saat memenangkan juara pertama kategori Best Outward Appearance.
2002 : Kangin dan Heechul direkrut bersamaan dengan Kibum, yang ditemukan pada saat casting di Los Angeles. Kangin terpilih karena memenangkan posisi pertama di YOUTH BEST CONTEST ke-4 dan menggondol penghargaan penampilan luar terbaik. Heechul ditemukan di STARLIGHT CASTING SYSTEM.
2003 : Siwon terpilih menjadi anggota Super Junior setelah mengikuti audisi STARLIGHT CASTING SYSTEM dan lulus audisi pada saat usianya masih 16 tahun.
2004 : Anggota berikutnya yaitu Ryeowook yang terpilih dari ajang “THE CHIN CHIN YOUTH FESTIVAL SINGING COMPETITION”. Ryeowook berhasil membuat terkesan para juri dengan suaranya yang unik dan seksi.
2005 : Shindong terpilih untuk menjadi trainee setelah menjadi juara pertama kategori komedian terbaik pada SM BEST YOUTH CONTEST. Kyuhyun menjadi juara ketiga pada acara “ THE CHIN CHIN YOUTH FESTIVAL SINGING COMPETITION” (Sama seperti Ryeowook) namun baru bergabung dengan Super Junior pada tahun 2006.
Lee Soo Man (pemilik SM Entertainment) mengumumkan akan membentuk Boyband dengan anggota berjumlah 12 orang. Grup ini akan melakukan debut pada akhir tahun dengan bernyanyi di “THE GATEWAY Of STARDOM ASIA”. Lee mengumumkan bahwa bahwa sebagian besar anggota dalam kelompok ini dipilih karena mereka telah berpengalaman tampil sebagai aktor, MC, model, dan host radio sebelum debut. Heechul dan Kibum telah berprofesi sebagai penghibur, dan sebagian besar anggota lain sudah membuat berbagai macam penampilan di televisi dan media yang sangat terinspirasi oleh konsep rotasi gadis Jepang grup Morning Musume, kelompok ini juga akan mengalami perubahan line-up, dengan anggota-anggota baru menggantikan beberapa anggota lama yang dipilih setiap tahun untuk menjaga grup ini tetap muda dan memiliki berbagai talenta. Konsep ini kemudian baru diperkenalkan ke pasar K-POP.
Nama sementara adalah O.V.E.R yang merupakan singkatan dari Obey the Voice for Each Rhythm yang artinya patuhilah suara untuk setiap irama. Namun, sebelum nama ini diputuskan, SM hanya menyebut mereka sebagai Junior, yang berasal dari para anggota yang masih berusia muda ketika pertama kali menjadi SM trainee.Setelah para anggota memamerkan bakat mereka yang berbeda kepada perusahaan pada sebuah piknik. Kemudian perusahaan memutuskan meresmikan grup ini bernama Super Junior 05, generasi pertama dari Super Junior.
Super Junior 05 membuat pra-debut mereka di saluran Korea M-net pada 11 September 2005. Pada acara itu, mereka melakukan berbagai gaya tarian hip hop. Mereka menampilkan tarian B2K. Han Geng, Eunhyuk, dan Donghae juga melakukan tarian dari lagu Usher, Caught Up. Namun penampilan mereka tidak disiarkan di televisi, hingga akhirnya pada 16 Mei 2006 disiarkan pada sebuah segmen di acara Super Junior Show.

2005-2006
Super Junior 05 mengeluarkan single pertama mereka yeitu TWINS(KNOCK OUT), kemudian lagu YOU ARE THE ONE, plus tiga lagu tambahan lainnya.Super Junior 05 resmi memulai debut mereka pada 6 November 2005 di Popular Songs yang disiarkan SBS dengan membawakan single TWINS (KNOCK OUT). Album TWINS (KNOCK OUT) dirilis secara online pada 8 November 2005. Pada bulan yang sama Super Junior 05 merilisSHOW ME YOUR LOVE, single ini dinyanyikan berkolaborasi dengan TVXQ. Lagu ini menjadi single terlaris pada Desember 2005 karena terjual 49.945 copy. Pada 6 Desember 2005, CD album Super Junior 05 ( TWINS) dirilis. Album ini terjual sebanyak 28.536 copy dan debutnya berada di urutan ketiga di chart bulan desember 2005.
Bulan februari 2006, Super Junior 05 mengeuarkan single kedua mereka, MIRACLE, dari album TWINS juga. MIRACLE berhasil menduduki posisi puncak di chart musik online di Korea Selatan serta tangga musik Thailand. Setelah promosi MIRACLE berakhir, SM Entertainment mulai memilih anggota baru untuk Super Junior. SM menyebutnya dengan Super Junior line up, proyek kedua mereka, yaitu Super Junior 06.
Pada bulan mei 2006 anggota ketiga belas ditambahkan. Selain itu, Line Up proyek juga ditinggalkan. SM Entertainment pun memutuskan boyband hanya dikenal sebagai SUPER JUNIOR tanpa akhiran 05. Pada Mei 2006, SM Entertainment mengumukan anggota ketiga belas dari Super Junior yaitu Kyuhyun yang ditemukan melalui kompetisi menyanyi pada tahun 2005. Pada Juni 2006, Single U rilis berupa album fisik dengan total 3 lagu dan terjual lebih dari 81.000 copy pada saat pertama rilis. Tahun 2006 Super Junior merilis single Usecara Online dan dapat di-download gratis di website resmi mereka.Single U juga mendapat sambutan cukup baik, terbukti yang mendownload mencapai 400.000 dalam waktu 5 jam download. Lagu U menjadi salah satu lagu yang paling populer sepanjang tahun dan menduduki urutan pertama selama 5 minggu berturut-turut pada sebuah program musik. Namun promosi U sempat engalami kemunduran saat Heechul cedera dalam kecelakaan mobil yang terjadi pada tanggal 10 Agustus 2006, saat ia kembali ke Seoul dari Mokpo setelah mengikuti pemakaman ayah Donghae.



Dibentuk Subgrup Super Junior KRY yang anggotanya adalah Kyuhyun, Ryeowook dan Yesung, tepatnya pada 5 November 2006 dengan pertunjukan lagu Hye Na bertema THE ONE I LOVE di Music Bank yang disiarkan KBS. Lagu-lagu yang dibawakan Suju KRY beraliran pop dan ballad dan lebih sering mengisi soundtrack drama seri korea. Karena itulah mereka belum memiliki album sendiri. Pada akhir tahun 2006, Super Junior mengumpulkan 7 penghargaan, lima diantaranya berasal dari Korea Selatan karena meraih gelar sebagai “BEST NEW GROUPS Of 2006”.

2007
Februari 2007, Subunit kedua Super Junior diperkenalkan yaitu Super Junior T yang beranggotakan Leeteuk, Heechul, Kangin, Shindong, Sungmin dan Eunhyuk. Suju T berfokus pada lagu-lagu jadul alias Old Music dari lagu-lagu pop korea. Lewat Super Junior T, SM Entertainment mengajak kawula muda untuk tidak hanya mendengarkan lagu-lagu pop kora modern. Super Junior T merilis single pertama, ROKKUGO pada 23 Februari 2007 dan membuat debut performa lagu-lagu popular. Single ini sukses dan laris di Korea.
Pada bulan Juli 2007, film pertama Super Junior berjudul ATTACK ON THE PIN UP BOYSdirilis. Film ini dibintangi oleh 12 personil Super Junior minus Kyuhyun yang saat itu mengalami kecelakaan mobil. Di film ini para personil Super junior memerankan karakter anak sekolah yang mengalami penyerangan misterius di sekolah. Film ini banyak mendapat kritik dari berbagai pengamat film. Walaupun begitu film ini tetap mendapat sambutan positif dari para penggemar Super Junior.
Album kedua Super Junior rilis pada 20 September 2007 berjudul DON’T DON. Album ini fokus pada berbagai jenis melodi pop, terutama pada jenis melodi yang mendekati heavy airy beat, R&B modern dan retro pop dance. Pada 14 Desember dalam acara Golden Disk Awards 2007 mereka memperoleh dua penghargaan “BONSANG” and The “TPL ANYCALL POPULARITY AWARD”. Album DON’T DON menduduki peringkat kedua dalam kategori penjualan album terbaik tahun 2007. Album ini tidak hanya sukses di Korea namun juga di Taiwan. Hal ini mengingat kesuksesan senior mereka terdahulu SHINWA dan TVXQ yang juga penjualannya tidak sebanyak album DON’T DON. Dua versi repackage yang berbeda, versi pertama dirilis pada 5 November 2007 yang terdiri dari tiga lagu baru dan dua lagu remix. Versi kedua terdiri dari satu lagu remix dan sebuah DVD dirilis pada 9 November 2007. Sukses dengan album DON’T DON membuat Super Junior masuk dalam tujuh nominasi di acara MNET/ KM Music Festival pada 17 November 2007. Namun mereka memperoleh tiga penghargaan yaitu “Netizen Choice Award” dan “Mobile Popularity” serta “Best Artist of the Year”(Daesang). Pada akhir tahun 2007 album ini mengalami kenaikan penjualan yaitu sebanyak 160.000 copy terjual.

2008
SUPER SHOW adalah tur konser live Asia 2008-2009 oleh Super Junior dan merupakan Tur Asia pertama. SUPER SHOW 1 diadakan lima bulan setelah rilis album kedua DON’T DON yaitu pada tanggal 22 Februari 2008 dan dijadwalkan berakhir pada 7 Maret 2009.SUPER SHOW diikuti oleh 13 personel Super Junior yaitu Kangin, Shindong, Yesung, Leeteuk, Kibum, Han Geng,Siwon, Eunhyuk, Ryeowook, Sungmin, Heechul, Donghae dan Kyuhyun.Konser ini mencakup lagu-lagu dari dua album pertama Suju termasuk hit single Udan juga hit subgrup dari Super Junior KRY, SUPER Junior T dan Super Junior M. Tur dimulai dengan tiga perhentian di Korea Selatan dan memperluas rutenya ke Thailand dan China.
April 2008, Subgrup ketiga Super Junior dibentuk untuk merebut pasar musik di China yaitu Super Junior M (Mandarin) yang beranggotakan Han Geng, Siwon, Donghae, Ryeowook, Kyuhyun dan dua orang tambahan yang berasal dari luar Korea yaitu Henry, keturunan China-Hongkong yang lahir di Kanada dan Zhoumi yang berasal dari China daratan. Lagu-lagunya berbahasa mandarin dan beraliran pop, dance dan R&B. Debut pertama Suju M adalah single U yang dilantunkan pada acara penghargaan musik tahunan ke-8 pada April 2008. Tidak lama kemudian dirilislah album mereka yang pertama berjudul ME pada tanggal 2 Mei 2008. Selain di China dan Korea, album ini juga beredar di Hongkong, Taiwan dan Singapura. Album ini menduduki posisi 2 tangga combo G-Music di Taiwan serta posisi 1 tangga musik China dan Thailand.
Mei 2008 Subgrup unit keempat dibentuk dan diberi nama Super Junior H (Happy) yang beranggotakan Leeteuk, Sungmin, Shindong, Yesung, Kangin dan Eunhyuk. Subgrup ini mengusung tema gaya musik riang. Mini album Super Junior H, COOKING ! COOKING !,rilis pada 5 Juni 2008. Debut resmi mereka dilakukan pada 7 Juni 2008 pada saat Dream Concert 2008. Penjualan album COOKING! COOKING! Laris manis hingga sampai 10.000 copy. Kemudian dilanjutkan dengan single PAJAMA PARTY yang dirilis pada tanggal 3 Agustus 2008. Juli 2008 Super Junior kembali disibukkan dengan persiapan rekaman untuk album ketiga. November 2008, Super Junior T kembali meluncurkan ROKKUGO yang kini berjudul ROCK AND GO dan dilempar ke pasar Jepang. Lagu ini segera menduduki posisi puncak tangga lagu dalam tiga hari setelah rilis. Tidak hanya itu sebanyak 46.000 copy juga terjual di pasaran.

2009
12 Maret 2009 Album ketiga Super Junior, SORRY SORRY rilis di pasaran. SORRY SORRY sukses secara komersial di Asia, menjadi album berbahasa Korea terlaris pada tahun 2009 di Korea Selatan, Taiwan, Thailand, China dan Filipina. Dalam waktu kurang dari seminggu setelah pre-order diumumkan, lebih dari 150.000 copy sudah dipesan. Menurut Hanteo Charts Korea Selatan, SORRY SORRY debut di urutan pertama tangga lagu dengan hampir 30.000 copy terjual pada hari pertama sehingga menjadi terbesar dalam penjualan album grup di Korea. Pada 13 Maret MV (Music Video) SORRY SORRYrilis bersamaan dengan First Comeback mereka di KBS MUSIC BANK. Super Junior masih disibukkan dengan Comeback mereka di Korea seperti di MUCORE dan INKIGAYO sampai akhir maret. Awal April, untuk pertama kalinya Kibum tampil bersama anggota lain setelahSORRY SORRY diluncurkan dalam sebuah acara di Thailand. Di bulan yang sama Super Junior mendapat penghargaan SBS INKIGAYO TRIPLE CROWN. Pada 11 Mei 2009 MV IT’S YOU (NEORAGO) rilis secara resmi dan hanya dalam waktu 5 jam setelah rilis, single kedua ini langsung menjadi no 1 di CYWORLD’S MUSIC CHART.


Super Junior memenangkan trofi kelima untuk album SORRY SORRY di acara MUSIC MUBANK, sekaligus melengkapi kemenangan mereka menjadi sepuluh. Penghargaan pertama untuk NEORAGO menjadi rekor tersendiri karena berhasil menjadi grup pertama yang merjai K-Chart enam kali berturut-turut tapi dengan lagu yang berbeda. Repackage album versi C dirilis pada 14 Mei dengan tambahan empat track yaitu LOVE DISEASE, LOVE U MORE, SHE WANTS IT dan termasuk IT’S YOU. Super Junior M merilis album berjudul ME dan mengeluarkan single SUPER GIRL pada September 2009. Dalam MVSUPER GIRL ini SUJU M menampilkan Jessica Jung (Personil SNSD) sebagai model utamanya.
Rangkaian konser Super Junior yang bertajuk SUPER JUNIOR 2ND ASIA TOUR kembali digelar.  Tur ini diawali pada tanggal 17 Juli 2009 dan dijadwalkan berakhir pada 10 April 2010. Korea menjadi lokasi pertama dan digelar pada Juli 2009 dan kemudian dilanjutkan ke berbagai kota lainnya. Total ada 15 konser untuk 6 negara yaitu Korea, China, Taiwan, Thailand, Malaysia dan Filipina. Super SHOW ini diikuti personil Super Junior termasuk dua personil tambahan, Henry dan Zhoumi. Kibum sudah mulai tidak berpartisipasi karena kesibukannya di dunia akting. SORRY SORRY versi D di Taiwan Special Edition dengan aksklusif CD dan DVD resmi dirilis pada Agustus 2011. Super SHOW 2 yang diadakan di China daratan kembali tidak dihadiri Full personil. Kini giliran Kangin yang harus absen dari Show karena terlibat perkelahian sehingga SM Entertainment mengosongkan jadwal Kangin sampai akhir tahun. Di penghujung Desember masalah kembali menimpa SM Entertainment, Hankyung mengakhiri kontrak kerjanya dengan SM Entertainment.

2010
Awal  tahun 2010 Super Junior masih disibukkan dengan serangkaian tur Super SHOW 2 di beberapa negara di Asia hingga April 2010. Album keempat, BONAMANA dirilis pada Mei 2010 dengan hanya menampilkan sepuluh personil. Minus Kangin yang sedang mengikuti Wajib Militer, Kibum sibuk dengan dunia akting dan Hankyung yang memilih bersolo karir. Pre order album ini mampu menembus angka 200 ribu copy dan mencetak rekor baru. Menurut tangga Hanteo Korea Selatan, BONAMANA terjual lebih dari 36.000 copy pada hari pertama rilis. Angka penjualan album ini di pekan pertama telah mencapai 100 ribu copy. Album ini, menurut estimasi Daesang terjual sebanyak 225.648 copy.


Bulan Agustus SUPER SHOW 3 kembali digelar tepatnya pada tanggal 14 Agustus 2010 dan dijadwalkan berakhir pada 7 Mei 2011. Tur ini diikuti oleh sepuluh personil Super Junior. Tur ini dimulai dari Seoul, Kora Selatan. Setelah itu, konser keluar negeri seperti di China Qingdao, Beijing, Shanghai, Nanjing, Taiwan dan kota Asia Tenggara seperti Bangkok, Singapura, Yokohama, Manila dan Kuala Lumpur. Total keseluruhan ada 20 konser di 9 negara.. Selain disibukkan dengan comeback mereka di beberapa stasiun TV di Korea, tiap personil sibuk dengan kegiatan pribadinya. Sungmin, Siwon dan Donghae yang mulai merambah dunia akting. Kyuhyun, Shindong, Leeteuk, Yesung, Heechul, dan Eunhyuk yang sibuk menjadi MC dan DJ. Sementara Ryeowook mengisi OST beberapa drama.

2011
Awal tahun, Super Junior masih disibukkan dengan rangkaian tur SUPER SHOW 3. Tur konser berakhir pada bulan Mei 2011 di Vietnam. Untuk pertama kalinya, konser SUPER SHOW 3 di Seoul dibuat film 3D. Film SUPER SHOW 3d ini sudah ditayangkan di Korea tanggal 23-27 Februari 2011, kemudian berlanjut bulan Juni-Juli di Jepang dan Taiwan. Selain itu personil Super Junior disibukkan dengan aktivitas masing-masing personil di luar kegiatan Super Junior seperti menjadi MC dan DJ serta berakting di drama musikal, dll.
 Super Junior M kembali mengeluarkan mini album berjudul PERFECTION pada Februari 2011. Subgrup ini memiliki dua personil tambahan, Sungmin dan Eunhyuk, dikarenakan hengkangnya leader Hankyung dari Super Junior. Single PERFECTION langsung melejit dan membawa subgrup beranggotakan delapan orang ini meraih penghargaan Most Popular Group di 1 st Global Chinese Golden Chart.Setelah rilis PERFECTION versi A, SM Entertainment lalu meluncurkan versi B dengan tambahan satu track yaitu THE WHISPER OF WEST WIND. Untuk memaksimalkan promo di daratan China, Super Junior M tinggal di Taiwan selama tiga bulan. Selama di sana, mereka tidak hanya disibukkan dengan kegiatan menyanyi tapi juga syuting VARIETY SHOW, siaran di I LIKE RADIO. Sementara Siwon dan Donghae sibuk syuting film SKIP BEAT yang kebetulan penggarapannya dilakukan di negeri tersebut.Bulan Mei 2011 Super Junior merilis album BONAMANA Japan version“BIJIN”. BIJIN menduduki peringkat kedua di tangga lagu ORICON pada bulan Juni. Selain itu, SM Entertainment juga merilis DVD konser Super Show 3 in Japan beberapa waktu yang lalu.Super Junior akan kembali mempersiapkan album 5jib, mereka memulai recording pada awal Juni.

Pada 31 Juli 2011 teaser video klip lagu MR.SIMPLE diluncurkan dan sambutannya ternyata sangat tinggi. Hanya dalam waktu dua hari video ini sudah dilihat sebanyak lebih dari sejuta kali. Dengan video tersebut, Super Junior mendapatkan TRIPLE COWN di Youtube dengan kategori Most Viewed, Most Favorite dan Most Discussed. Pada 2 Agustus 2011 tepat jam 12 malam waktu korea, album terbaru mereka yang berjudul MR. SIMPLEdirilis secara digital di website online seperti Melon, Dosirak, Bugs Music, Naver dan sebagainya. Album ini berisi 13 lagu dengan bonus lagu PERFECTION dari Super Junior M.  Album ini merajai beberapa tangga website musik online seperti Dorisak, Melon, MnetmSoribada dan Bugs. Untuk chart Dosirak sendiri, posisi sepuluh besar sempat diduduki oleh semua lagu Super Junior di album MR.SIMPLE. Lagu-lagu itu adalahMR.SIMPLE, OPERA, BE MY GIRL, WALKIN’, STORM, GOOD FRIENDS, MEMORIES, SUNFLOWERS, WHITE CHRISTMAS dan FEELS GOOD. Untuk pertama kalinya, Super Junior melakukan comeback stage pada 5 Agustus di acara KBS Music Bank. Selain itu mereka juga melakukan comeback stage di MBC Music Core dan SBS Inkigayo pada sabtu 6 Agustus dan Minggu 7 Agustus.


 Pada 26 Agustus Super Junior mengeluarkan album MR. SIMPLE versi B disertai video klip. Album ini memiliki konsep yang sangat berbeda dengan versi sebelumnya. Dominasi warna hijau lebih menonjol di album kedua ini karena konsep yang diusung pada album ini adalah army. Album ini tetap berisi 13 lagu dengan 12 lagu yang sama dengan MR. SIMPLE versi A. Mereka menambahkan satu lagu berjudul Superman yang sudah dibawakan saat comeback di Mnet Countdown, KBS Music Bank, MBC Music Core, dan SBS Inkigayo. Lagu yang bergenre hip-hop ini membuat lead vocal seperti Yesung, Ryeowook dan Kyuhyun harus ngerap.
Mengakhiri masa promo album MR. SIMPLE pada 23 September lalu, Super junior balik lagi dengan album repackage yang berjudul A-CHA sesuai dengan lagu andalan mereka di album ini yang berjudul sama. Lagu-lagu di album A-CHA resmi rilis secara digital pada 19 September 2011. Mereka juga melakukan comeback stage pada 23 September 2011 di acara KBS Music Bank. Di album ini, mereka menggunakan konsep yang lebih simple. Untuk tema album, mereka menggunakan kaos lengan panjang hitam, celana hitam panjang dan sepatu both hitam serta dilengkapi dengan kamera lomo hitam di tangan. Di album ini terdapat 13 lagu dari MR.SIMPLE versi B dan empat tambahan lagu baru yaitu A-CHA, OOPS!!!, ANDANTE dan A DAY. Lagu andalan mereka berjudul A-CHA adalah lagu bergenre gabungan rock dan electro house. Lagu OOPS!! merupakan lagu full rap yang diciptakan khusus oleh Leeteuk, Heechul, Shindong dan Eunhyuk . Di lagu ini mereka berduet dengan adik perempuan mereka di label SM Entertainment yaitu F(X). Sang leader, Leeteuk ikut membuat komposisi lagu berjudul ANDANTE bersama Henry, anggota Super Junior M. Kabar menyebutkan bahwa Super Junior akan merilis MR. SIMPLE JAPANESE VERSION pada 7 Desember 2011. Super Junior yang akan membuat konser keliling dunia akan tampil pada SUPER SHOW 4 pada 10 dan 11 Desember mendatang di Osaka, Jepang. EXO berjanji kepada para penggemar bahwa mereka akan memberikan penampilan yang luar biasa karena mereka telah mempersiapkan konser mereka. Tao, secara khusus telah mengatakan keinginannya untuk tampil di tanah airnya, China dan sangat senang akan hal itu.

Sayangnya, penggemar harus melihat ada salah satu anggota yang menghilang. Tapi meskipun begitu, EXO tampak senang bertemu para penggemar mereka. Lihat videonya di bawah ini :

SM Entertainment, Konfirmasi EXO Akan Tampil Dengan 11 Member Di Konser Solo Perdana

Berkaitan dengan gugatan pemutusan kontrak yang dilakukan Kris terhadap SM Entertainmet.

SM Entertainment telah meyakinkan bahwa EXO akan mempersiapkan yang terbaik untuk konser solo perdana mereka di Seoul. Sebelumnya, agensi tersebut telah mengatakan bahwa mereka telah mencoba untuk menghubungi Kris untuk mencari tahu apakah ia masih ingin bergabung dengan para member lain untuk tampil dalam konser ini, namun sepertinya para penggemar tidak akan melihatnya dalam acara tersebut.

SM Entertainment menuliskan melalui website resmi mereka pada 21 Mei, “Halo. Ini adalah SM Entertainment. Kami berterima kasih kepada semua penggemar yang telah menunjukkan banyak cinta untuk konser solo perdana EXO. Kami memberitahukan bahwa kesebelas member akan menggelar konser di Olympic Gymnasium di Songpagu, Seoul pada 23-25 Mei. Kesebelas member saat ini tengah berusaha yang terbaik untuk memberikan konser dengan kualitas yang tinggi dan kami berjanji bahwa akan ada penampilan spektakuler yang akan sesuai dengan perkiraan para penggemar, jadi nantikan saja.”

Bersamaan dengan pengumuman ini, seorang perwakilan dari SM mengungkapkan kepada Star News, “Mengenai gugatan yang dilayangkan oleh Kris, kami masih belum dapat  berkomunikasi dengannya (Kris), dan pengacaranyapun belum merespon apapun mengenai kehadirannya (dalam konser). Karena semua aspek dalam konser ini harus segera disesuaikan dengan 11 member, para member dan staf berada dalam situasi yang sulit, namun mereka akan melakukan yang terbaik.”

Konser “EXO FROM. EXOPLANET #1 – THE LOST PLANET” akan digelar di Olympic Gymnastium, Seoul mulai dari hari Jumat ini di Korea. EXO juga telah memberikan pesan video untuk para penggemar.

As many of us know, leader Kris of EXO-M filed a lawsuit with his company SM Entertainment on May 15th. Response has been pretty explosive amongst fans of the group, and several members from EXO-M and EXO-K have shared their thoughts on the matter, but not a whole lot has been covered in regards to how a lawsuit like this works.

In December, 2009, Super Junior’s Chinese member Han Geng left his group. He filed a lawsuit for “confirmation of the exclusive contract’s invalidity”. He took an issue with the contract’s period and profit distribution.

In May, 2014, EXO member Kris is following the path of Han Geng. On the 15th, he filed a lawsuit for “confirmation of the exclusive contract’s invalidity”. He claimed that his contract was violated. Currently, Kris is staying away from his group and the other 11 members are doing their scheduled activities.

Q. What is this lawsuit called “confirmation of the contract’s invalidity”?

D. It means “I acknowledge that I agreed to the contract but I ask you to check whether it is still effective”. In other words, he acknowledges the contract but he wants to nullify it after a certain point of time. It is a lawsuit that most celebrities file when they deal with excessive schedules or poor distribution of profits. (Lawyer Kim Gyeong-hwan)

Q. Fans still find hope from the fact that it is not a “lawsuit for nullification of the contract”.

D. Both lawsuits intend to nullify the contract. Both have the same purpose of checking the contract’s illegality. However, the difference is when the contract becomes nullified. For “confirmation of the contract’s invalidity”, the plaintiff sets a certain point of time and asks to nullify the contract after that point. (Lawyer Kim Gyeong-hwan)

Q. Setting a certain point of time?

D. For example, let’s say the plaintiff chose March 4th in 2014. Then it means “I acknowledge the contract before that date. However, I cannot honor it after March 4th. Please check whether the contract is still valid after that date.” We don’t know what date he choose. (Lawyer Kim Gyeong-hwan)

Q. If he wants to nullify the contract, wouldn’t it be more effective to file a “lawsuit for nullification of the contract”?

D. That lawsuit denies the contract altogether. Then they have to prove the illegality of the contract’s content itself, which is hard. There are extremely few cases where they win a lawsuit like that. You have to prove the illegality of the accused such as taking excessive profits exploiting the plaintiff’s mistakes or inexperience, proxy contract or fake arranged contract. (Lawyer Seon Jong-mun)

Q. What is the advantage of the lawsuit he filed?

D. If Kris signed a standard contract with SM and SM violated any part of it, there is a high chance that Kris can win. If it is true that SM forced excessive schedules on him, it can be considered a violation. It should be proven to the court. (Lawyer Seon Jong-mun)

Q. This lawsuit looks similar to the case of Han Geng.

D. Han Geng filed a lawsuit for confirmation of the exclusive contract’s invalidity. At that time, the court ruled against SM for the excessively long period of contract, which was 13 years (2005-2018). According to the “standard contract for popular culture artists”, the contract cannot last for longer than 7 years. For singers, it can be longer but the singers themselves can nullify the contract after 7 years at any time they want.

Q. Will the outcome for Kris be similar?

D. Not necessarily. Kris is a different case. When Han Geng signed the contract in 2003, there was no “standard contract”. So unfair clauses might have been included. It is different for Kris. SM has been using the standard contract for all artists since December 2010. Kris might have also signed the standard contract. It is unlikely that the contract itself is illegal. Q. What if SM forced excessive schedules on Kris as he claimed?

D. It’s very hard for me to tell because I don’t know what happened between Kris and SM. No company is able to completely comply with the contract. There is always room for violations. If Kris persistently makes an issue of some problematic conduct of SM, there is a chance for him to win. (Lawyer Seon Jong-mun)

Q. If Kris wins the lawsuit, what will happen to the money issue?

D. In a lawsuit for confirmation of the exclusive contract’s invalidity, the contract before the set point is still protected. Hence, Kris doesn’t have to return any profit from his activities under SM until that point. If it was a lawsuit to nullify the contract itself, it would be a different story. They will have to resettle their profit distribution because the whole contract becomes null and void. (Lawyer Kim Gyeong-hwan)

Q. If Kris loses, can SM sue him for damages?

D. Of course. If no violation from SM is proven, the contract remains effective. In that case, SM can blame Kris. For example, they can sue him for financial and psychological damage caused by his absence without consent. However, the companies usually don’t file a counter lawsuit because they acknowledge the service of the artists. (Lawyer Lee Jae-man and Seon Jong-mun)

Q. What about the possibility that Kris filed the lawsuit just to make changes to his contract?

D. Unlikely. When they want to make changes to their contract, they usually negotiate with their agency. There are very few cases where they brought it to the court. Even if Kris originally just wanted to make changes to his contract, he might have failed anyway because he eventually brought it to the court. Q. What will be the next step and how long will it take for the lawsuit to be concluded?

D. In principle, it takes 6 months until the court’s decision. But it may take longer if some adjustments are made in the middle of the process. If Kris wins, he will be free from the contract and he can do independent activities. On the other hand, if SM wins, the contract remains. (Lawyer Lee Jae-man)

Q. What did Kris complain about SM?

D. Kris picked three reasons for the lawsuit. First, unfair treatment. He claimed that he was treated like a component or an object to control rather than a celebrity. Second, inflexible schedules. He claimed that SM went ahead with schedules without asking him for consent or considering his physical conditions. Lastly, profit distribution. He claimed that his agency only showed him simple calculation sheets instead of detailed profit distribution data.

Q. Did SM treat Kris like an object to control?

D. Control is inevitable for rookie idols. It is the same with any other agencies. Most idols are in their late teens or early twenties. They aren’t good at managing themselves yet. Stars rely on their image. A certain degree of control is natural. After the recent Sewol ferry accident, we are more strictly watching on our idols’ behavior. Even if they complain about our control, we can’t help it. How to accept it depends on their own mindset. (Big 3 entertainment agency staff)

Q. Kris is Chinese. Would he have experienced cultural differences with Korean members?

D. Kris belongs to EXO-M consisting of 4 Chinese members and 2 Korean members. Wouldn’t it rather be the Korean members who may feel alienated? Their activities are mainly in China. Korean members are more likely to experience cultural differences. As no other Chinese members raised an issue like that, I don’t think such a problem exists in any significance. Q. Are schedules forced against their own will or physical conditions?

D. Normally, schedules are settled one month or two in advance. For rookies, their companies often make decisions on their schedules. Of course, the companies explain what kind of activities they will participate in. However, it is hard to predict what kind of physical conditions they will be in on the day of the activity. You can’t know what their conditions will be like in a month. We decide what to do on each day. If a singer is asked to do an activity even when they got a flu, it can be a problem. You have to listen to both sides of the story. (Big 3 entertainment agency staff)

Q. Kris claimed that SM made decisions on every schedule without asking for his opinion.

D. A part of this is inevitable for rookies. EXO is in the second year of their career. They are just losing the label of rookies. In fact, it is hard for rookies to make good decisions on their schedules. Someone has to make decisions for them and lead them. If the agency left it all up to their singers, then someone would file a lawsuit against the agency for not doing their work. It is something rookies have to accept. However, when the singers become experienced after some years, most times, we discuss our schedules together. (Major entertainment agency staff)

Q. Kris raised an issue about profit distribution. He claimed that his agency did not reveal the distribution sheet.

D. SM distributes profits twice a year. The management team gives a briefing to each singer. Some singers attend it with their parents to check the distribution sheet. In smaller companies, they aren’t as professional. They just explain it verbally. The big 3 companies [SM, YG and JYP] are listed on the stock market, so they cannot manipulate their profit distribution. (Former SM manager)

Q. Kris complained about his income.

D. Korean entertainment agencies have the trainee system. They foster trainees and debut them as singers. They invest hundreds of millions of won in this process. They take a lot of risks. EXO members were trained for several years, but when they debuted, the public response was worse than expected. They began to make profits only after promotion of “Growl”. There must have been a gap between the income Kris anticipated and actually distributed income. (Music industry staff)

Q. Do Chinese brokers really exist?

D. The idol groups who receive attention from China are EXO, TVXQ, Big Bang, Super Junior and 2PM. Chinese agencies with huge financial power actively send love calls to them. The idols may think if they can go solo in China, they will be able to make much more money. Han Geng’s case was like that. At the height of Super Junior’s popularity, he suddenly filed a lawsuit against his agency. It is up to each individual’s decision after all. (Smaller entertainment agency staff)

Q. There are other Chinese members in EXO. Is there any possibility for their chain-quitting?

D. The possibility is low. First of all, no other members filed a lawsuit along with him. They aren’t taking action together. Chinese member Tao wrote, “After all, he didn’t come back after deceiving our company and team when we didn’t know what was going on.” Chain-quitting is very unlikely. (Music industry staff)

Q. Will Exo-M’s activities be in trouble without Kris?

D. First of all, they have to do their upcoming concert as a full group and EXO-M’s activities without Kris. Trouble is inevitable. However, it’s unlikely that EXO’s position will be shaken. In EXO-M, Luhan and Xiumin’s popularity is big. Kris’ empty spot is a problem right now but it won’t be an obstacle in the long run. (Big 3 entertainment agency staff)

Q. How do you think the lawsuit will be concluded?

D. SM stated that they will do their best for EXO’s current activities right after Kris’ lawsuit was reported. Since Kris already began a legal battle, it would be hard to expect a smooth agreement. There will likely be adjustments as in the case of Han Geng. Kris will pursue his own career in China. Maybe SM will come up with “Plan B” to fill up Kris’ empty spot. (Music industry staff)

Mnet’s Dirty Talk’s topic this week was to discuss the new generation of boy groups produced by the Big 3 in the South Korean Entertainment Industry, Exo from SM, Winner from YG and Got7 from JYP.

The topics were, Talk about when SM’s group will disband, Talk about when someone from JYP’s group will leave and Talk about when will YG’s group will comeback!

The show is called ‘Dirty Talk’ for a reason and their intention is to talk about ‘sensitive issues’ like these which are not really discussed in other programs.

About WINNER, they talked about the Members and the longevity of the group. Other than that, they didn’t talk much about them since sadly they haven’t debuted yet.

During the 22nd broadcast of "War of Words", Heechul talked about Kris' issue



Translation:

person 1: Kris has filed a lawsuit to terminate his contract.
2: Why did Kris do that? 1:He claims the schedule was too hard, not enough money paid and etc And kris hired those who worked for Hangeng.
Heechul: hold on, the situation is different from Hangeng. When Hangeng was in SJ he could only go on two programs. At the time because he was a foreigner the environment was not on his side.
3: part of the reason why Hangeng left was probably bc he was lonely too. That maybe why the company made Exo-M so they won't feel isolated
Heechul: That is true. I think Kris incident is about kris has turned down fans trust.
He left a week before the concert, where exo have finished pre-recording all the music and completed choreography.
4: doesn't that cost so much money and time to do it again?
heechul: yes everything is ruined. But I think the most important issue is this is just not right against the fans who waited for the concert. Also this was kinda expected bc kris did have some 'incidents' here and there. The fans know about this already.
For example, there was incident where Kris left (or disappeared) from the stage all of the sudden. there was another incident where kris suddenly didn't come to the company during exo's promotion period.
1: is that why he's ability is 'flying'? laughs
2: so is he in china now? all: probably.
1: Because there are so many musicians who work overseas, this kind of incidents seem to happen a lot these days. The singers perform and just by waiving their hands many ppl are moved. so these youngsters think I can earn more money than now [Bc of their popularity they become over-confident]
There was one successful incident of Hangeng. He earns a lot of money now.
When the company spends billions of dollars to produce a great team, many brokers go to them. There are so many Chinese brokers that do that.
4: so the brokers seduce them by saying if you come out of the company you'll earn more money?
1: yes. so incidents like this build up and it'll likely to happen many more times I'm afraid.
2: now that Exo-M's leader is out, isn't other foreign members shaken?
3: actually the other members have criticized kris through their SNS
Heechul: about that, there was a rumour that SM told them to do so which is not true.
1: i can understand that they feel betrayed since they were together. also members unfollowed him on SNS
Gura: so this person has only been debuted for 2 years and it was only recently that they were gaining popularity and this happened so I think the general view of Kris is not good. If it was older times we would focus on the company, like there must be problem with their contract. However, as of 2010 December, SM has standard form of contract (which allows change of contract) that is fair so we focus on the individual kris and our (or general) view of kris seems not good.
Heechul: i think the one who is most upset is the fans and exo members.

Now it’s definitely spring. ‘Heechul is Here’ began in winter and one season has already passed. From all of your attention and support, ‘Heechul is Here’ has received a lot of love, and I, Heechul, who has become a reporter, is now on ‘WGM’ Global Edition and ‘Flower Grandpas Investigation Unit’. This is not promotion. Haha.
This time, I met a little sister singer that carries purity and fresh beauty like spring. Her name is Sunmi.

Sunmi is a close dongsaeng that I have known since her debut with the Wonder Girls 7 years ago, but after I completed my public service and us both being busy, we didn’t see each other for awhile. But this time when I met her, she was extremely matured. I asked her how old she is now, and she is already 23. Until recently, I only remembered the young Sunmi but now she has really become an adult.

But who am I. After a few questions, I immediately brought out Sunmi’s original playfulness. There is something that people with AB blood type understand well with each other, and I am still not burdensome to Sunmi, so her bright and easy-going personality from when she was young naturally came out.

Sunmi laughed a lot during the interview. She even said that it’s been awhile since she has laughed that hard. As the oppa, it also made me happy because I think that she had fun. I also thought that I hope Sunmi can continue to grow as a solo singer as she continues to release hit songs like ‘24 Hours’ and ‘Full Moon’.

-Kim Heechul: (As soon as he sees Sunmi) Wookie-hyung(JYP Entertainment’s CEO Jung Wook) called me. He asked me to take care of you well for the interview. But don’t be relieved. The rule of ‘Heechul is Here’ is that I don’t ask the same questions as others.

▶Sunmi: Oppa, take care of me well today. We’re meeting for the first time in awhile.

-Kim Heechul: It’s our first time meeting since I saw you when I went to ‘M! Countdown’ in March to interview DBSK. Sunmi, I’ve known you since 7 years ago and we naturally became close about 6 years ago. And then I went to public service and such and I think I saw you last year for the first time in 5 years when I was MC-ing for the SBS ‘Gayo Daejun’. I was really surprised then. You became so mature. In the past, you were bubbly and joked around a lot. Well, your face is the same as when you debuted with the Wonder Girls though.

▶Sunmi: (Slightly hitting Kim Heechul’s shoulder) Whew, Oppa, I feel like I’m on ‘Radio Star’ right now. Haha. They say that if you look old when you’re young, then that face stays for a long time. When I debuted in middle school, people really thought I was older than I was. But also now when I say I’m 23, people often ask if I’m really only that young. I think it’s because I debuted early.



-Kim Heechul: I remember when the Wonder Girls debuted in 2007. At that time, I was an SBS ‘Inkigayo’ MC with (Jang) Geunsuk. Even thinking about it now, don’t you think we had the greatest male-male chemistry? Haha. At that time, I passionately cheered on the Wonder Girls and Geunsuk cheered on Kara.

▶Sunmi: I was in my 3rd year of middle school at that time. Our company’s (JYP) 15& (Park JImin Baek Yerin) debuted when they were 16, and when I see them, they seem like babies and seem so young and cute. But I am amazed when I think that I debuted and worked at that age also. Actually, I saw you for the first time when I was 12 in elementary school. There was a time when I auditioned for SM Entertainment. You were a trainee, too, and came into the practice room with lots of other trainees, but only you were wearing red Chinese traditional clothes and had long hair and color contact lenses. Your first impression was so strong. I thought, ‘Oh, there are people like that’. When you debuted with Super Junior, I knew right away that you were that oppa.

-Kim Heechul: Many people think I stand out now but honestly I have toned it down a lot after I debuted. At that time, people didn’t wear skinny jeans but I bought pants and tightened them by myself. Oh also, Sunmi, isn’t it lonely promoting alone by yourself these days after promoting with five people when you debuted?

▶Sunmi: I still live with my Wonder Girls members so I’m not lonely in the dorm. But when I’m promoting solo, it naturally gets quiet in the waiting room since I am alone. If I was with the members, it would be loud and chaotic. What also changed while promoting solo is that I have to talk by myself from the beginning to end of an interview so I have to say a lot and I try really hard to be bright all the time.



-Kim Heechul: But since you’re alone, there must be no reason to fight. We, Super Junior, have to fight at least once every two days. But if I tell that to BoA, she says, ‘It’s happiness to have someone to fight with. I’m jealous of Super Junior’. Since she told me that, I can’t talk about fighting with my members in front of BoA. Because even that becomes boasting.

▶Sunmi: What BoA-unnie said is really cool. But the Wonder Girls really didn’t fight.

-Kim Heechul: Coming out for the first time in awhile, the music industry changed a lot, right?

▶Sunmi: I came out onto a Korean stage for the first time in 5 years, and that’s really true. When I debuted, there weren’t that many idols. But now that number has grown tremendously. I was planning on acting like a rookie when going to the broadcast stations again as a solo singer, but when I actually went, the others treated me like a complete sunbae so I was totally surprised. I was amazed that I was in the position to receive bows although I’m still young.

-Kim Heechul: You debuted as a solo singer last year with ‘24 Hours’. With bare feet. Did you come up with that concept with (Park) Jinyoungie-hyung?

▶Sunmi: Yes. There were lots of ups and downs. At first, it was more of a boyish concept than a sexy concept.



-Kim Heechul: You used to have a bubbly image with the Wonder Girls. But I think you still managed the sexy concept well with ‘24 Hours’.

▶Sunmi: When PD(Park Jinyoung)-nim first suggested a sexy concept, I worried about it a lot. The public thought of my image as cute, young, and pure? Saying that with my own mouth, haha. Anyway, it was a maknae image. But I worried that they would think of it as awkward if I suddenly appeared after 5 years with a mature image. But what PD-nim wanted wasn’t complete maturity but sexiness in between that of a girl and woman. So I took on the challenge confidently.

-Kim Heechul: To be honest, I was going to parody ‘24 Hours’ at the Super Junior concert last year. I liked that song and performance to that extent. There are many stars that parodied ‘24 Hours’. Which one was most memorable?

▶Sunmi: Yoo Jaesuk-sunbaenim, Kim Junho-sunbaenim, Psy-oppa. All three were really enjoyable and funny. i was also thankful.



-Kim Heechul: You did a barefoot concept for ‘24 Hours’ and ‘Full Moon’ because your legs are long, right? Be honest.

▶Sunmi: For ‘24 Hours’ I did it barefoot because that fit well with the performance. When I first practiced ‘Full Moon’, I did it with heels on but because I had to go on top of the sofa and such, I did it again barefoot.

-Kim Heechul: You had short hair as a solo singer, too. I think it looked good on you. Oppa sort of has an eye for style. In SM, they don’t ask me about other stuff but they sometimes ask me about hair and style for girl groups like Girls’ Generation and f(x).

▶Sunmi: I like that short hair can sort of express something with impact. Of course, long hair has its charms, too. I originally had silver hair in a short-cut for ‘Full Moon’. I looked too much like a boy, so I dyed it red, but that was too strong so I dyed it sky blue, and at the end I went with black. My hair was ruined a lot during that time from dying it too much. Today’s long hair is a wig.

-Kim Heechul: Who are other celebrities that you are close with besides JYP friends?

▶Sunmi: I’m close with 4Minute’s Hyuna. I’m also close with Orange Caramel’s Lizzy. I’ve also known BTOB’s Ilhoon since we were young, so I’m close with him, too.

-Kim Heechul: Lizzy? Did you know that I wrote the lyrics to Orange Caramel’s ‘Shanghai Romance’? You should ask me sometime, too. I will write lyrics for you. Oh also, Sunmi, now that you are an adult, I can ask you your ideal type, right? For your information, I like a style like Anna from ‘Frozen’. She’s bright and has a nice body.

▶Sunmi: This is my first time revealing my ideal type, but it is someone that seems innocent but is also manly. And also a jokester. Like Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) from ‘Iron Man’ or Kang Baekho from ‘Slam Dunk’. Maybe it’s because I’m young, but I don’t think money is that important.

-Kim Heechul: For example, is Trash or Chilbong more your style from ‘Reply 1994’? Also, do you like men with short hair or long hair?

▶Sunmi: I like a style like Trash. I like men with short hair. But Oppa, you like Sohee, right?



-Kim Heechul: It’s not that I like her but, maybe I should say she’s like my own unicorn. Like she’s always just in my imagination? I think that’s easiest. Like I just always look towards her. Sunmi, what’s the best part of continuously being with jYP?

▶Sunmi: Each company probably has its pros, but even if you ask me to choose a company again, I choose JYP. First of all, I like JYP’s music style and I can also see that Park Jinyoung PD-nim and CEO Jung Wook want to help us grow into good adults. PD-nim is so friendly and approachable. Of course, he’s very strict when working.

-Kim Heechul: What are your plans for the future? What style of music do you want to do?

▶Sunmi: Oppa, what do you think I should do? I honestly have so many concerns about concepts. I also think that it might be too heavy to go again like ‘24 Hours’ or ‘Full Moon’.

-Kim Heechul: I think it might be okay to grab Sunmi’s own color like that. Like how we immediately think of Cool-sunbaenims when we think of summer now.

▶Sunmi: I think that’s also true. If I ask company staff, ‘Should I do a cute and bright song?’ they tell me, ‘People probably don’t want that from you but want something stronger’.



-Kim Heechul: Then how about you release 2 songs at once, one with a girly feel and one strong one?

▶Sunmi: I think PD-nim is also thinking of something in the middle like that.

-Kim Heechul: How was the ‘Heechul is Here’ interview today?

▶Sunmi: I was a little worried that it might be awkward because I’m meeting Oppa for the first time in awhile, but you really took care of me so well so it was more comfortable and fun than any other interview. Like, it felt like we were just hanging out instead of having an interview?

-Kim Heechul: That’s the goal of this interview. Haha. I also enjoyed it because I saw you for the first time in awhile but you are kind and also crazy and strange, the same as before. Sunmi hwaiting!
